In Tableau’s recent 2019.2 release, a variety of improvements were incorporated: vector maps, parameter actions, new UX, etc. Although Microsoft’s Azure SQL Data Warehouse was already connected, data access was not as robust or customizable as users wanted. With this recent release, Tableau increased support for Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) authentication. This increases usability and speed of connection to the data warehouse, allowing users to manage data access more effectively.
