Three new features in the Java 13 update

 1 min read

Java SE 13 (JDK 13) is now generally available! According to the official Oracle release, Java 13 “increases developer productivity by improving…performance, stability and security.” New features include:

Easier archiving. Class-data sharing (CDS) archives are now dynamic.

Better use of memory. Heap memory is now conserved and reused.

Simpler maintenance. APIs have been replaced.

The next Oracle release, JDK 14, will be available in March 2020. Two preview features in the Java 13 release, switch expressions and text blocks, will hopefully be included at that time. For more information on all features, check out the official Oracle blog.
