Virtual data

For those who use virtual machines in their daily work, Microsoft Azure has good news! The second generation of Azure virtual machines is now in public preview. For users that once had on-premises workloads, these native virtual machines are a step in the right direction. Here are the quick details:

The boot architecture has been upgraded from BIOS to UEFI

These new machines can be larger than ever before, now up to 12TB

OS disks can be provisioned at more than 2TB

Some things have also been removed with this upgrade, including site recovery and backup, disk encryption, and the shared image gallery.

For more information on this new tech, check out the Azure documentation and release blog.
